The Tampa Arts Alliance (Alliance) has announced a series of Arts Townhall meetings to gather community feedback about the arts in Tampa and Hillsborough County. The Tampa Arts Alliance is a non-governmental arts organization created by arts leaders to build the Tampa arts scene.

Out of that and the election of Mayor Jane Castor came almost monthly meetings and presentations about how best to support art and artists while shaping an inclusive, diverse, and vibrant city that engages community members, attracts investments — both private and public — and encourages the leadership, mindset, and ideas necessary to inspire, design and nurture a local culture that makes support for the arts a priority.
The creation of a new not-for-profit organization will help support the arts scene around Tampa and will help to secure funding for performers and others who work within the space at a time when organizers feel like more community awareness is needed.
Yesterday, Neil Gobioff announced the formation of the Tampa Arts Alliance, which is big news for Tampa’s creative community. In the four years I’ve been covering visual art for Creative Loafing Tampa, I’ve lost count of projects stamped with the Gobioff name.
“This is an organization Tampa is ready for.” says Neil Gobioff, Chair. “Several arts leaders were gathering separately to discuss how to increase support for the arts as Tampa grows.” The Tampa Arts Alliance began to take shape as the Gobioff Foundation teamed up with Bill Carlson of Tucker/Hall, Inc. to produce a series of roundtables and forums that addressed the current position of the arts at both organizational and grassroots levels.
The Tampa Arts Alliance announced its formation this week. The nonprofit group is a nongovernmental arts organization for the Tampa scene.
It formed as the result of a collaboration between the Gobioff Foundation, a private family foundation that supports human rights organizations and the arts, and Bill Carlson, president of public relations firm Tucker/Hall Inc.
